Sydney duo Hugh B & Setwun bring dub-weighted bass, off-centre hip-hop loops and understated soul vocals together on Nah-Maybe. Planet Trip’s vinyl release draws together their 2020 debut Yeah Definitely and its long-awaited follow-up, tracing a partnership that connects post-punk and ambient textures with slow jams and modern R&B.

Hugh B’s beats give Setwun plenty of room to move, with dialogue snippets, city-pop touches and guitar figures adding detail around the vocals. The first batch came together quickly; the follow-up took six years to find its moment, before Setwun drafted the new vocals in an evening. Across the record, the combination stays loose and personal: melodic songs with the low-end depth and rhythmic curiosity of music made around a soundsystem.
