Free At Last opens a door into the extensive catalogue of Dennis & Christy Soares. Compiled by Aloha Got Soul’s Roger Bong, this eleven-track anthology was drawn from more than 600 songs considered over twelve years. The husband-and-wife duo have been making music together since meeting in 1986, with much of their work created during two decades on Hawai‘i’s Big Island.

The selection brings together their independent approach to pop, folk and synthesizer-led songwriting, guided by the warmth and sincerity that run through their recordings. Rather than attempting to sum up more than a hundred albums, it offers a manageable starting point. Liner notes and an interview on the back of the sleeve give the songs some welcome context.
